What is Stress Management?
A wide spectrum of techniques and psychotherapies aimed at controlling a person's level of stress, especially chronic stress, usually for the purpose of improving everyday functioning. In this context, the term 'stress' refers only to a stress with significant negative consequences, or distress.
Mindfulness Exercise Example:
“Alright, let’s relax your shoulders. A lot of times, we’re always tense in our shoulders, so just let them hang. Then relax your body from the top down. Feel your neck, turn it around. Pay attention to your breathing. Are you breathing quickly or are you taking slow breaths?" It's making you aware of the moment!
